Mobil 424 is used by probably hundreds of Jeep drivers all over the world especially in the US, it is used to service Jeeps by dealers in Sth America, it is also thought to be what the rebranded Mopar stuff actually is. Many of us on AJOR have used it for years with no problems. My CRD has run on it for nearly 180,000km and a tractors oil would take more punishment than a TC in a Jeep.
$13 for 2lts of Mobil or blow $100+ for 2 lts of Mopar rebranded oil.

PS: In the pics that was a diff oil that reffered to being for the TC, not the Tranny oil.

I raised the question with liqui-moly about T/C fluid & was basically told I didn't know what type of T/C was in my Grand

In regards to the transfer box, it appears in Australia there is one
version of this (NV 140), Chrysler ask for ATF Plus 4/ Mopar Part No.
9602, which is matched to our ATF1200.

However in Europe there appears to be an additional transfer option (NV
245), this requires a product we don't have.
So if the vehicle isn't Australian delivered I would suggest checking with
Chrysler on the transfer requirements.
It appears these oil companies have the wrong information when it comes to what specs Australian Grands are.

ATF Plus 4/ Mopar Part No.9602 is for all wheel drive no low range T/C

Have to agree Clarky, but this topic has been done to death in other threads which has covered all the info over many pages and I think the consensus was 424 won the availabality, cost and most important reliabilty issues, actually I have heard of TC failures with Mopar fluid but never with 424 !!!!!!!! most interesting.

I use this oil in my transfer case:

http://www.pmlubricants.com.au/shop/item/pm313hp5s

I asked the manufacturer what was equivalent to the Mobil 424 and they actually said their PM311 product was equivalent/superior.

When I asked how I could order they said the PM313 was the same oil and you can order from the webshop.

The moral of the story is, just because it says one thing on the label, does not mean that is the only purpose the oil is god for.

The more I learn about some of these manufacturer specs is it is a big con designed to extract more dollars out of customers.

My cynical view of the day.

Bodgie, how do you know PM aren't just trying to extract money from you or misinformed about that oil?
I'm not saying that they are, but with 424 being so cheap and widly accepted, I'm not sure why you'd bother with something else.

lol, if you look really deep into the spec sheets on some of the oils for the diesels at least you will find they are specced for John Deere tractors so I suppose with the new Jeeps now you will find listings for Fiat Agri.....lol,lol,lol.

I guess I don't, but at $11 a litre it isn't exactly expensive.

At the end of the day I'm happier to spend the few extra dollars for a high quality locally manufactured product from an Aussie owned company.
