What is the reasoning behind modding the tail gate struts, JJ?

I want to use tail gate struts to open the bonnet, not mod the tail gate struts....

That makes sense. That would be a good mod. I will keep an eye on the thread.

I just need to get hold of some update struts in good condition for the right price to work out which is the better option of the 3 types, even if I can borrow some but they need to be near new pressure so if new ones were fitted it doesn't change things too much....

JJ,

My XJ is getting my suspension mods completed at the moment, have fitted my electric fan and will need some help with the wiring, was going to bring down a litre bottle of bourbon.

you can use the struts I have mounted to check the differences.

If you can make the pre-update struts work i think they will be better, even though mine were not good enough to hold my tailgate up they are almost too strong for the bonnet.

Once i know the date i get the XJ back i will call about making a time to suit.

I remember your comments to that effect Rob nut that can depend on the mounting position and angles etc, I feel that the pre-update units are too long which is a shame as I have a few
The Zg struts are looking like they will be the better option at the moment.

Re your fans just let me know when you're ready and I will see how it fits with my shifts, I take it you got the radiator rubbers ok?

Cheers, JJ
