Don't get me wrong... a quality 35 spline axle is better than a quality 30 Spline - but that's not what we are questioning.

Its whether there's a real need and that's at issue here and from my experience there isn't.

if your thinking of fitting a ProRock with RCV axles IMO you'd be better to spend the cash on a genuine Rubi locker that allows normal U Jointed aftermarket axles to be run... my RCV's were VERY high maintenance, short lived, expensive to overhaul and their warranty support overstated.

If ts a comp truck then 60's would be a better investment as they provide a MUCH bigger safety margin... nut IMO are unnecessary on 99% of builds.

A general fact about axels is that a 2 inch axel will retain 8 times more torsional ability than a 1 inch axel.
Simple mathematical equation.
So to increase the size by 0.2 inch will obviously increase the torsional serviceability of the of the shaft. The extra splines are par for the course for the diameter, with a Dana spline being cut at 60 degrees.
You will still be running a 8.75 inch ring and with a low ratio the pinion will be smaller also.
I know people running 30 spline axels with big HP drag cars and they have know issues.
So to spend big dollars on the 35 spline axels in a D44 to me is a waste of time and your money.
If you find you need a stronger rear end go for a stronger rear end.
Hope this rambling helps.

According to some far more knowledgable people than myself 35 spline shafts are getting to big for even the 8.9" JK D44. Ideally if you were to run 35 spline shafts on a D44 the shafts would be comp cut.

More splines usually means a thicker axle which means less give/twist when shock loaded which means the ring and pinion now recieves more shock load than with the thinner axles effectively making your ring and pinion weaker. I believe 32 or 33 spline or custom comp cut 35 spline would be the better choice if you want more than 30 spline.

An often overlooked fact is that an axle acts as a torsion bar and is designed to twist ( and obviously rebound ) when loads are applied reducing the shock loadings on the diff. Outright strength isn't the only design criteria

A good axle is elastic as well.

I'm sure the axle makers know their stuff and a 35 spline JK axle has the correct characteristics - so just adding this as information.

I am confused as to what you mean by Comp Cut?

when an axle shaft is machined down over the majority of the shaft to less than the minor spline diameter.
