All servicing is always based on mileage or time, whichever occurs first. There is also provision for servicing intervals in severe conditions, frequent short trips are considered severe conditions.

Depends how you're covering the 5,000k's e.g. if you do mainly short distances, it's not kind on oil. If you do an annual 'proper' service, the half year oil & filter change shouldn't cost an arm and a leg if you keep away from dealers.

See Jeep have a new campaign called “i’m In”. Services for 4x4 petrol are $399 and 4x4 diesel are $599.

I don't know how comprehensive a service you get for the $399, or even if your lease ties you to dealers, but at the 6 monthly interval (if you go down that track) that price makes for an expensive oil change.

Apparently it’s a full dealer service. I’ve checked with my local mechanic that I go to and they are quoting about the same. Jeep are trying to improve their name, so starting with the dealers is a good thing.

My 10lts of oil is about the $70 on special (Castrol usually) my oil filter is $22 and my fuel filters are $44 so there is a lot of labour it seems and I have a good check of bits as I go and my parts are just as good as any Mopar stuff. These are changed at 10K...............so really $600 is a bit much in my view but if your local spanner man is about the same he's probably buying OME bits which are grossly over priced but I would use him as he would have more care. Ive had no dramas in 40 yrs using RYCO bits either.

After all of the horror stories I've heard about Jeep dealers, my last Jeep and this Jeep will never see a Jeep service center. I prefer to do it myself, that way I know my way round the car and know it's done properly.
