As I stated below it's a factory part, TSB 09-001-09 states to fit splash Shield P/N 04801798AA to the alternator.

I bought it from Factory Mopar Parts: http://www.factorymoparparts.com/04801798aa.html

As they had a minimum order amount I bought Qty 3.

I rang my Jeep dealer and the part costs $14.95 in Australia.

Seems like a worthwhile modification.

GPCDR,

Sorry to raise this topic from the dead but I am have some questions about the CRD alternator as I am about to remove mine to replace the pulley (or perhaps the whole thing) - http://www.ausjeepoffroad.com/forum/...d.php?t=127863

Here goes:
• When you removed the alternator to install the splash guard did you remove it from the top or the bottom?
• Was there any points during the removal and installation that were particularly difficult or required special tricks and tools?
• Do you know if the Australian CRD alternator is the 180amp model or the 220amp model (see here http://europarts-sd.com/engineelectr...onsystem_4.asp)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
