Sorry to raise this topic from the dead but I am have some questions about the CRD alternator as I am about to remove mine to replace the pulley (or perhaps the whole thing) -

Here goes:
• When you removed the alternator to install the splash guard did you remove it from the top or the bottom?
• Was there any points during the removal and installation that were particularly difficult or required special tricks and tools?
• Do you know if the Australian CRD alternator is the 180amp model or the 220amp model (see here
