Should have let the guy pop it off with a screwdriver in the first place. You wouldnt have needed to get it towed then and jeep still would have replaced it under warrenty. Would have saved yourself a lot of time and yea it is a common problem.

When mine was replaced after being stuck at the servo ON FRASER ISLAND!!!! they re-used the barrel so the same key can be used. This happened 2 years ago and i managed to get it off and it worked fine for the rest of the holiday.

Mine was replaced with a keyless cap as requested. I tried to siphon petrol from one of our jeeps to the other and had no luck so I figured some stoned junkie scum would have less luck. Doesn't stop people from contaminating your fuel though...

Plus in a wrangler if they do try to steal the fuel they arent going to get much. Normally the tank is empty and even when full they dont hold much compared to other fourbies out there

my origiional key works in new cap... So I guess they had the barrel replaced to suit my key...

Wow ! A service department that thinks ! Yes, the original barrel can be swapped over.
