Do some coilovers shocks work differently when horizontal? Do some not work at all?

I think most pressurised (gas/nitro/foam cell) shocks would work, steer stabilisers are just shocks with 50/50 valving after all ,& they are mounted horizontal.
I would test first or check with manufacturer tho.

I think the gist of it is that it allows alot more upward/downward diff movement by pivoting it means the diff can move a large distance and the shocks/springs only compress a small amount.

Someone please correct me if im wrong

yes the leverage and travel idea works well in theroy. But after having seeing what it is like first hand in the real world of offroading ,trying to get the shock valving correct can be a problem.put some axle moving quicker than
shock in there and you may open up another can of worms.

From the limited information I have gathered on this the effective spring rate changes with the position of the lever arm in its arc of travel this I assume will also afect the shock rate as well
