Its well documented over on caravaners forum that JGC temp gauges actually work unlike lots of other makes that don't move until crisis point. If you can get a readout of the temp in degs then the rise in temp is not that much and unless it goes into the red then there is no real problem

I went 140 once, overtook a truck at Monaro HWay, only to be jumped on by a pootrol car. Speed lmt was 100 and I had been stuck behind him for 25 minutes doing 40-60 kays. That was 11 yrs ago, but.

$576, 6 points, 3 months being chauffeured.

Good to see the speed limit pushed up to 130km since they changed it from an open speed limit down to 110/100 years ago. With the slower speed limit they were having to many accidents.

Cheers.
North of Alice is still unlimited. I had my WG well up there (on the speed limiter) when i was passed by a ute like i was in a school zone.

I will do the trip again one day myself. Maybe with a passenger though next time. And not in a Torana either.

When I was patching roads 30 years ago Mataranka was awesome.
Even 12 years ago it was excellent. We were parked up there for two days. This time we are looking at three nights two full days.
Will likely do a drive out East while I'm there.

Could you pinpoint the location of the best spring you have been to. Thanks.

Burn monster cheers.

North of Alice some open speed limit but most is set at 130.

Today left Ayers Rock for Barrow Creek but went on thru to Tennant Creek.

Direct head wind out of the Rock and quartering headwind from Erldunda to Tennant.

Temp started at 28 and climbed to 38.

Aug 11.5 leaving the Rock climbed to 13.6 travelling at 120k all day.

Off to Mataranka tomorrow.

Are you using POD trailer, that plastic tubby trailer? I'm thinking of getting one. Let us know how it handles and what more you wish for on it. Piccies..

Mataranka was ok until a few years ago when it was devastated by bushfires which burnt out all the trees.... now it's more like a barren war zone. It will come good tho'. Never went in to the springs.... the sight of overly fed 65+ yr olds in bathers is a little too much for my eyes. Age-ist, I know, but what the heck. I am nearly there myself. A really nice place to go, spring wise, is Lorella Springs station and Adel's Grove... Now these r really nice places off the beaten track that r worth the trip.

I did stay at Mataranka last year on NT Day and the fire works and the kids were just crazy!!!

Default Flying Foxes Galore

Pass, to noisy and the kids voted to move on. The other suggestions look great but way off our route and time frame.
Left Tennant Creek 13.7 at Mataranka 14.6 with 34-36 degrees travelling with thru range country and head wind at 120 kms.
Speed limit has been 130 all day not open.

Cheers.
