Hmmm that is the ultimate... I have been thinking about this as my next toy (in a TJ). Or possibly even the later single turbo 1JZGTE with VVTi, my brother has one and with a dump pipe (and exhaust obviously) and a few other basic bolt ons it makes full boost and torque at 2,200rpm and holds it all the way to the redline.

I am a V8 guy through and through, but boost on one of these engines is so addictive with pretty much zero lag on stock turbos. Plus its diff but in a good way, and running half cuts with these motors can be had for 2-3k. My prob is I want to run a manual if possible (I know that auto is doable and easier) but currently trying to figure out if I can run the toyota R151/R154 manual box with a NV231 case on the back to keep it passenger side drop for the front DS...

2jz can be had for $1000-$2000 inc accessories .
pretty sure you can build a hybrid r154 / ax15 consisting of 154 front section and ax15 rear as these two boxes are near identical and can be interchanged from what i have read .

i would love to have this combo in my heap

yes i have been reading up on the 1jz/2jz conversions, i thought the best was always a 2jz running a single turbo due to the forged bottom end in the 2jz...

any hoo for those interested the aw4 and the supra auto are pretty much the same with the supra having more clutches and an additional solenoid and different shafts....

Couple of write ups here
http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthrea...033211&page=11

and pics of one here
http://www.ksracing.net/forums/index.php?topic=471.0

seems to be nearly a simpler swap due to the trans,

and i have a bro-inlaw with a 2jz front cut in a garage unused...

hmmm
