Waiting on some bush's to arrive that need replacing in my rear 3 link before an engineer would want to look over it. ( not as good as your claytons 4 link setup.) I'm getting good at it now as this will be the 3rd set in less than 12 months.
Thanks Mark

Faaaark, 3rd set in less than 12 months? I'd be pissed.

I'll send you a PM to

Pic from today's efforts. I'll start the rear tomorrow and finish probably friday between other installs! This WG is getting a low profile exhaust and high flow cat as well as a custom exhaust system. We'll get it as far out through the back as we can. I road tested it today after finishing it ans the difference is night and day in terms of handling and ride comfort. Night and Day.......

Just a reminder for any of those people who had never seen a XJ with a Claytons kit. My old red XJ was the first in Australia to ever have a Claytons LA, this was back in 2004. Highly recommended. What you see here is approx 7" of lift, 35's and hitting 1040 on the RTI ramp.

That is very nice Jb.

XJ's are starting to grab my attention given they're price now and what's actually avialable for them. Who knows, might even build a sic Murchison Products bash rig....do some events in it.....

Here's the other kit I want to bring in. Complete coil conversion Kit by Clayton's.

Should a XJ in the back yard again shortly Stu, we should talk!

Not so much a fan of coiling the rear, keeping the leaves gives you some good stability on side angles compared with a coil unit. Yes you could run a hefty sway bar in the rear but defeats the purpose.

I hear you there..last trip out to Scenic Rim I had my rear swaybar off and every side angle felt like I was going to put it on it's side, but great articulation on the creek runs..

True to a point. Center of Gravity, width and spring rate are the 3 major contributors to roll center/lean

An XJ build (not referring to a road registered vehicle here) like the Claytons one above is a LCOG style build running 37's on severely cut guards to get tuck.

Where alot of road rego'd Jeeps go wrong (not by choice but by limitations) is that we have to lift our Jeeps pretty high to get the larger tyres under there - then we have to bump stop them out so they dont foul the guards. The higher you go the more instability you create on side slopes. I saw this play out over and over again in Moab a few months ago during EJS.

You still got that Camo XJ jb?

Nah Stu, it went to the scrap yard, it was just built as a basher. Was running 4" RE lift, big trimming, you will notice that the OEM front flares are on there, but they have been raised up past their factory mounting spot, then no flares and 33's. Was on 31's when it was camo though.

Wish I still had that rear bar though!!
