You will be fine, best way before you actually engage is to remove circuit board and note the black IC numbers on riverside press button side, they will be near identical and google it as they will be same spec save updates etc. After soldering the components, its the only variable as the white tab coils on battery side are just a pickup antenna to excite some power into chip to then talk to the vehicle. That’s why you don’t need a battery inserted just to start the immobiliser section to allow the Jeep to start. In the past I just buy an old key and buy the blank IC chip and solder on as ready for programming. If they foul up the programming. Just order the chip and have it mounted as ready to go again. Hope this helps and others if they cannot get the exact part number here.

Yep thats what I had figured from my research makes a good fall back, so far the 68143501AC part has the same CB number so should be home and hosed but will look around some more for a bare board, housing has been easy but not the exact CB...

Just having one remote is scary, if it goes its a long, long way to a dealer on a tow truck.....wonder if insurance covers it all ???

The Philips hitag PCF7953 CHIPS don't lock on programming unlike HYUNDAI or other makes that use them.
So theoretically you should be able to just reprogram a S/H fob right back in.
I never got to try it before I sold.

67HR found a post of yours in a thread on the WG ZJ threads which matched up with all the info I had gathered after much research and a bit of 101 on these units, was nice to see my assumptions backed up, actually wish I'd seen it earlier ..... Code in hand now to place an order, I will order a new one from MoparOverstock then later I will play around with the other ideas...............

Hi 67HR, I’ve done these chips before as wrote the DIY for Renault years ago. Whilst they are not one time burn, the default ID46 moves to an unknown so did you know how to get that friend code back to default? I didn’t realise this could be done however their are tons of devices so must be possible. Those chips are sub 20 dollars from when I ordered. Great news on the 4 digit code as the chip and 4 pin is all that is needed for a cheaper way to renew old keys. Good work on this.

If its yours, the next thing to do is to have a clone spare made. Then put your original some place safe & use the clone. If you have a key hole in the door, have a blade cut & hide it on the outside so you can at least get into it if yours goes missing again. maybe hide the original some place safe inside the jeep.
