Seems extremely well made from the photos, but for me I can't quite decide if removing the plastic trim suits the look and function I'm after. Concerns me that the bull dust has direct access to the underside of all the doors, whereas the plastic acted as a buffer for this and airborne stones. My existing trim is already covered in impact marks from stones.

Mikzor, could you please also take a shot from underneath showing how it is attached and braced? Cheers.

Sure can....

Looking at the front arm which bolts onto the cross-member

Looking at the rear two arms which connect onto a plate that surrounds the chassis rail.

Whilst I'm now protected against sitting the car on rocks and causing sill damage or breaking the plastic trim I cetainly agree with you about opening up the potentual for small stone chip damage there now since it is all open.

I was thinking of possible solutions for that.... perhaps doing something like covering the now exposed area with some thin rubber from Clark Rubber or something? Got any ideas mate?

I'm not that worried about bull-dust or dirt there though. The doors are still sealed so it isn't entering the cab and in reality cleaning the dirt off that area now is actually easier then it was before since it is now exposed.

Amusingly I have a old video from when I first took my car to Fraser with the stock trim in place. Even with basic driving the amount of sand that found its way into the gap between the metal and the plastic trim surprised me. It was the same with mud and gunk too on other tracks.

Check it out

Sorry mate, didn't spot your question till now. I was thinking that if I ordered the same rails I'd try modifying the removed plastic sections to sit neatly over the rails. My plan would be to reattach them to the body but cut off the lower section. The ugly cut edge could tidy up with that rubber edging that is often used on plastic body work when fitting bull bars. You may need to unbolt the rails to do this, I'm only guessing it could work from your photos? Be great to know if you think it would work as it would sway me to go ahead.
