If this is true its very interesting - In the manufacturing (and business) industry there is a lot of talk about the growing Chinese middle class, the idea that as of a couple of years ago and heading into the future there is a class of people in China that can actually afford things they want (including a car). Something like half a billion people with money to spend for the first time in their lives. Getting locked out of that market would be devastating to any car company - from a board member or shareholder point of view, it just cant be allowed to happen.

Why do the Chinese consumers aspire to having Mercedes Benz cars, Rolex watches, Louis Vuitton luggage, etc....while their kids run around barefoot ??
Prestige...face.....whatever you want to call it.

Jeep is lifestyle, just like Harley bikes....HD's are a piece of shit as far as motorcycles go, but there is plenty of willing punters out there desperate for the lifestyle/image blah...blah...bl

This is an interesting turn, but very much in line with most brands sold in PRC.
Mercedes are manufactured there for the local market.
Vito vans are built there.
VW have been manufacturing there for decades.
Bejing Jeep have built XJs for the local market.
You might be surprised how much of your US or Austrian built Jeep starts in Chinaland.
Most of the OMIX aftermarket production is there.
ALL the ALDI winches come from there.
I'd be stoked as I live next door, but likely they will all be LHD.

Firstly the number of JEEP brand shops in shopping malls. It was massive.
