Bull bars are a good option providing the recovery mounts are intergrated into the bar, like a light weight ECB bar would not be recommended in my mind, yet a Warn or ARB bar are strong units, with recovery points built in.
For my money I dont like bolt on hooks with the XJ!

i was a bit dubious on whether the ARB points were strong enough - refering to the two hole bits on the front to put shackles through?....maybe i dont have to worry about this right now...

Thats what was on the front of mine, I did bend one of the the points on the bar, took one hell of a crack on a rock, took even more of a effort to straighten it back out. From memory the recovery point on the bar is made from 3 pieces of plate steel laminated together.

Thx JB, dont want to hijack, but you mentioned rocksliders...i need some.
Ive already damaged/bent part of a sill on my drivers side about 3-4 inches of it.
Is there any repairs I can do on this that doesnt require hardcore panel beating?
Also, what are the ramifications for this kind of damage?
cheers

Hi Dan Take a look at this. http://www.4x4trailhunters.com/article.php?id=17 The tow eyes on the ARB bar can take a lot of punishment, i have to pull out my mates cruiser often. And tie back onto it when winching with a double pull.

Also get a grinder out with a cutting blade and remove the part of the body shown in the attached pic, will give yuo a lot more room in that front wheel well when you have your swaybar disconnected.
Recovery points, yes they are right, and you should look at something both front and rear.

Yeah thanks Jimmy !
Also thanks for the tip on the bit I need to grind off .. makes sense.
Cheers
