I also believe you get most of the air out by bleeding, then take it for a drive on a dirt track and lock the brakes a few times, which cycles the ABS. Then take it home and bleed brakes again.

did with a top down bleed, then my son helped with a conventional bleed this morn, now have a very solid pedal
the ABS unit, every nut was butchered, lucky my Metwrinch was just able to grip them, bit suss on that ABS now, the light went out though
according to Google, (in general) cycling the ABS unit is needed and they will spill their guts, this can be done with a scan tool, or activating by heavy brake application on the road, can bleed again after that, only used 600ml
now wait for fuel parts to arrive and hopefully be rolling
