I also have the panel type K&N. No HP increase that I really noticed. Maybe a little bit, but now long forgotten. Last summer spent 3 days wheeling in a very fine bulldust environment. When I got home the intake side of the filter was chockers with dust. But not a speck of dust on the other side what-so-ever. So personally for filtering qualities and cost effectiveness I'd give them a thumbs up!

whats the likely hood of a cop busting a 4wd - not likely!!!
Strange you should say that the cops over here were throwing yellowys on anyone who had anything that looked different from a brand new car a few mates had their jeeps looked into and summarily stickered :(
I run a K&N pannel cheaper than buying paper filters all the time

we sell a lot of them with zero complaints and thats for all late model jeeps.

people having issues with them must be doing something wrong.

if your concerned about the seal around the perimeter schmoo it up with a lick'n of good old grease to ensure the outer seal is sweet.

being able to service a filter is a good thing and they seem to help milage/power a teeny weeny bit.
