Have just found "561" 44mm rigid loop 9 LED festoon globes on a couple of US sites and ebay for about $8 USD plus postage.
They'll fit without mods on my dome lights.
Have also found "168" replacements in a LED wedge fitting for the foot wells. These were $7 USD.
Love the internet.

I have been replacing all the lights on my XJ as they blow with LEDs.

They run cooler and use less power and never need changing - what more could you ask

There's always one.

A service manual will tell you the bulb type for each slot.
The reading/map light is a "906" and the footwell light is a "168" and both of these can be found from Australian ebay stores from about $1 upwards, depending on the LED configuration you choose.
The only one I can't find in Australia is the "561" rigid loop festoon in an LED config. They're still going to cost $8US plus shipping. (Unless you can get Jaycar to get some in.)

finally just replaced the last of every bulb on the xj with LEDs...except for the map lights (6 point white) the entire interior is blue (right down to every dash bulb and the illuminated ignition ring)...did the exterior as well - had to add resistors to the rear turn indicators but still cycles fast due to the 4 extra LEDS up front but i like the quick flashes and instant on/off LEDs - i feel a little safer...might try quieting down the flasher a bit though...going to add some extra lighting inside: the doors (for safety when opened), the rear seat area and the cargo area....i will refrain from the usual under the vehicle glowing blue light crap and the dorky windscreen washer nozzle trick - im teetering on over-bling as it is...and how bout those flashing valve stem caps? NOT!

What did you use for the dome lights in the roof? i.e. The ones that use the 561 rigid loop festoon?
Now that you've finished, would you still use blue for everything, or white?
Where did you get them?
