Styling wise, the front end looks a little goofy in the photos (I hope it looks better in the metal), and it would be a big ask for it to compete head to head against the RAV4, X-Trail and Forester body styling.
Like you mate I'm a little confused, I would like to see the full 2007 jeep line up and where the Patriot will sit among them. I do like the style of this new jeep, it's angular lines, rugged Jeep styling & genuine offroad ability will be it's point of difference when up angainst competition like the Rav4, X-Trail & the like. Can't wait to see these machines over here, the 2l turbo diesel 6 spd with full 4x4 capabilities would be the pick I recon.

Great car for the missus to run around with the kids in, not that we have any (yet!).
That way I can inherit the KJ for good!! :P!

Does anyone else think that they are kinda going a bit crazy with variety's? SOOO many models, many somewhat crossing over on each others turf.

They've all got their target markets:

Commander - Up against the Chevy Suburbans
Grand Cherokee - BMW X5, Rangie etc
Gladiator - Navaras, Pootrol Utes, etc
4 Door Wrangler - Up against the beefier 4wds out there (Cruiser, Pootrol)
Cherokee (KJ) - Pathfinder, Challenger,
Wrangler - Nothing near it!
Patriot - Kluger, Forrester, Tribute, Xtrail
Compass - The Car market
