When the Government is ready to support EV rollout, they will subsidise the people purchasing EV’s by over taxing the dinosaur fuel people. It will happen for sure, just look at Solar - I’ve got solar, pay almost zero bill per month and the people without solar have had their electricity bills skyrocket to ridiculous prices to subsidise the others like me. Just can’t win ......

I predict the big market will be EV conversions into older cars like mine.

Yeah, not sure about the 'dog bone' shaped thing under the grille. The body doesn't look that much different? Interior is a bit more snazzy maybe.

Will be a long time yet before the EV's take over since the real work involves a lot more than just building/importing/converting the cars. Depending on our age many of us won't need to worry too much.

Maybe, but that’s what the Yanks said ....., changed their tune when Biden got in. Look at the direction US manufacturers are taking now.

As has been said above, diesel’s days are numbered snd this is the last outpost.

I plan to replace my grand in 2-3 years and have seriously considered the diesel but when I look at how expensive it can be to repair once out of warranty (not just the Jeep one but any) I really can’t justify it.

I’m interested to see where the 4xe concept goes. It’s a hyrbrid drivetrain mated to a traditional transmission and transfer case, so if it makes the torque they say it will then it’s an interesting proposition.

Otherwise the pentastar will continue to be produced for years on end, as will the Hemi, mainly due to the American market.

For me the purchase would come down to how well supported the mechanicals are down the line and I just can’t see the diesel being that well supported in 10 years

I have always heard this so expensive bit, but 3 diesels all close to 300K when sold and no major maintenance or cost issue, this one I will assume be the same, I suppose if you use a dealer for maintenance it would be very expensive, of course the scare mongers on faceache don't help either.............
Biggest issue with an EV will be range, tow capability and ability to charge it quickly so a 1,00km trip doesn't take 2 days or more..... at present no grid power to most of the outback destinations will make it interesting, I can just imagine how much the van park at Winton will charge for an overnighter for van and EV plugged in.... if the towns has the capacity to supply.

Yeah for that reason I think it will be hybrids first up. That’s a viable alternative

I would go the WK2 but not the air suspension or 20" wheels...........
Toyota apparently will be using a Mazda in-line 6 diesel. 3.3 litres. With this rumour going around then no wonder Toyota guys are buying 200 Series at ridiculous prices.
