Checker Plate and Door

Once the decals were taken off the next biggest job was fitting checker plate to the sides and rear panels. Checker plate was held on by construction adhesive and 3M double sided tape along the top of each panel.

Once the checker plate was finished the new door was fitted.

I was sick of removing decals so the rear was left on at this stage.

Wheel Arch and FLares

Due to the walls being a sandwich construction it took a bit of though on how to fix the wheel flares. Bonding blocks of wood around the wheel arch gave a strong point to mount the the aluminum strip and flares.

When the adhesive had set these screws were removed to mount the flares.

Just wondering seeing all the effort to repair the existing step- did you consider removing it altogether and replacing with a folding step for more ground clearance?
Looks great by the way and suspension is flash as!

Water Proofing Timber, Water tanks and Under Floor Wiring

Two 80lt (115mm thick) slimline water tanks were fitted, one in front of the suspension frame and one behind.

Wiring for the rear lights are fed inside the chassis rail and all other wiring (including vehicle charge wire, brakes and battery link wire) were installed inside conduit.

I did think about removing it, but as the caravan is a poptop the door would have been too short.
