This could have been the case since the car was new.

I had an EF Falcon with coil rear suspension live axle and watts link set up.

I get my wheel alignments done by a mate who owns a Goodyear tyre outlet, and he advised me that my rear was out, and i said that car had not had an accident.

He advised that as they are a non adjustable setup and made on a productioline it is not unusual that rear axle is not perfect, slightly longer wheel base one side to the other, due the mounts nothing can be done and makes next to no difference. Would only matter if it was out considerably, say chassis twisted slightly after accident and not trued properly on a rack.

Would not worry unless it is out considerably - some of these wheel alignment machines are so accurate now operators love to tell you what is wrong with your car. When prior to laser alignments it is still closer than they would have a fully adjustable setup using string lines.

bent axle, bent springs, worn spring bushes, worn axle shaft, worn bearings, bent frame...also know the right side is 10mm shorter than the left (front to rear) for american road camber (was never corrected for exports w/RHD)

it could be as simple as one of the spring bolts that goes through the spring has broken (like mine did) and let the diff slip back

err wheel alignment is a BROAD category...what specifically is put of alignment? there isn't really any toe-in, caster, camber in the rear. The main thing is the thrust angle - and with leaf springs without a panhard a slight variance in Trust angle is not uncommon....

Interesting points. Rodge are you sure you havent missed anything I will do a visual inspection this weekend. I have a completely new suspension package in the rear so unlikely anything is worn there but will go over it again. Axle looks in reasonable nick with no visible signs of hard knocks. It was a new workshop so Im starting to think they got a new laser alignment machine and just wanted to show off.
