If the rattleing in mine gets any worse I might rip the suckers out and fit cb speakers instead.....I've been eyeing the stereo hole as a cb mounting place

dash speakers are 6x4" and suck.
You can fit a 5.25" split in their and that would sound a lot better. Especially if you can get the tweeter to point at your ears instead of at the floor like they are stock...

You can also pack the soundbar and dash speakers with some matting/foam and you will get a lot better sound as well.

I am waiting to find a cheapo sound bar, if such a thing exists. Keep watching the trading post each week. hehe

I'm about to upgrade my HU and stock speakers and would be interested in what everyone thinks the minimum set up would be for decent sound.

I don't really want to go overboard. ie no subs Just something that provides a bit better sound on the highway and when the roof is off.

Oops. Should probably mention that I already have a sound bar with the stock speakers.

I didn't have a sound bar so I just mounted some speaker onto the roll bar facing down into the cabin, cost was about $8. Speakers were donated and just bought some right angle brackets and attached them to the roll bar just behind the crossover bar were the soundbar usally goes. :D

I can give you an idea of what I have, although I no longer have boot space.

I put a pioneer head unit, 4x45.
I have a 150w amp running of it for the box behind the back seat. That has 2 7x10 200w kenwoods and it gives really good bass.

On the sound bar I have 6" 3 way pioneers and on the dash still the standard speakers.
