G'day James
You can pick up a set of gas struts from the Gas Strut Guys via e-bay. Will cost you about $60 the pair. Glen's workshop knows all about installing them - they did mine last week (I didn't have the right Torx sockets & it was in for different reasons) - but if you want to do it yourself it's dead easy.

Thanks BushPig. I found that link. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Jeep-Cherokee...16125802QQrdZ1

Thats great news. I have a friend that had the same problem, but just went thru their local mechanic and paid $300 for Jeep parts... sadly for them, they never got online and found these clubs .. Glen seems great. If I can get the steering fixed cheaply as well its gonna be sweet.!

James you might want to double check the struts you want - the link above was for Jeep Cherokee struts at $27 and if you've got a Grand Cherokee the struts are different (and twice as much)
Cheers ... Mark

yes. thanks Mark. it is the Grand Cherokee. We are getting them from 4x4 Mt Barker.. Glen... $120 + $20 fitting. Costs are rising for our bargain car... but I hope its still worth pursuing. His Quote. Remove and rEpair exhaust manifold, leaking from crack in join at pipework $460. CV boot cover has a crack $30 fitting $65.
SuperPRO BUSH Upper Front Control Arm #1263K, $157 fitting $120,
SuperPRO BUSH #1264K Lower Rear Control Arm Bush $230 fitting $60,
SuperPRO BUSH Upper Rear Control Arm Bush #1263K $157 fitting $60,
SuperPRO BUSH #2343K Reap Panhard Rod Upper and lower Bush Kit $45 fitting $60,
SuperPRO BUSH #1138-26 Front Sway Bar Chasis Bush $32 fitting $20.

Our Steering he cant help with, ???? we apparently need a specialist steering or JEEP... themselves. it has a fair amount of freeplay, and needs adjusting. Apparently if the adjusting goes wrong, we need a whole new part.. this costs $3000 aaaarrgh or reconditioned $800 I have heard from a friend who used Brentons Mechanic in North Adelaide - oh god please help. and finally most worriesome, now after 6 weeks we have noticed 3 times when the car was cold and it didnt go into gear and had to be put back to park and then back to drive to connect. ????/ worried we are.??? so we need a diff/trans specialist - which Glen has referred us to a specialist in the city - afraid to call - lol aaaargh.!!! I really hope your out there SUPER4x4GURU Mechanic!!
