I got the lot for $4500. I was going to go lower as he was desperate to sell but already had an offer for $4000

It also comes with a bunch of new parts he hasn't put on yet (Stuff I needed for the CJ - sweet) and it purrs nicely. Should be able to pick it up tuesday when I can get a trailer (no rego).

With the 4.0 HO and my 258 I can already hear the hymns of a stroker in my mind!

Nice one, plenty of bits from that will work for your cj, but you wont want to keep that front clip and YJ dash & interior would you?
Has it been registered as RHD?

Since I think they are the baby swan of the Jeeps I won't be using any of the body from the YJ. I've got a really good CJ tub and front clip. After all, I am building a CJ7. Right now I only plan to use the engine, trans, and 1/2 doors. The top is a bit dodgy, but the frame might be useable with a spruce up. The missus will be happy if I use the rollcage with the backseat shoulder harness for the kids (that was the clincher by the way).

When I get under the YJ for a good look I might look at the frame with the cross link suspension system. It is supposed to give a much better ride. I'm torn because it is a big departure from a real CJ7 but would be best of both worlds if I combine the bits together.

Cross link = panhard???

I know some if not all the YJ's have a panhard to improve the steering and you can get an offroad panhard (It has a collar you twist to allow the panhard to extend/compress with articulation. Then when you go back to the road, park it on level ground and tighten the collar, Voila, directer steering!)

The best option would be to fit your CJ grill, bonnet and guards to the YJ. That way you don't have do the engine /gearbox swap and you get a better suspension and chassis with the YJ.

Doggie, I see you'd be a good judge on the difference in ride. That's quite the shed full you have there in your signature. Is the ride in the YJ that much better? When I get the YJ I'll have a closer look at the frame. I did notice that he has the spring shackles bolted through the frame and not from a hanger. That looked dodgy, I wonder where the bushing is? In the picture you can see the back one. It's the same in the front.

I'll start doing some serious planning when I get it home tonight.
