(and compared to the price of chromoly axles for one patrol diff, they seem cheap!)

I was lamenting as to how much gear could be used nowdays, back when i got rid of them no one wanted them! We cut up over a dozen rear diffs for drag cars back in the 90's. If he can get 2k for em i congratulate him!

Go your hardest on the diffs, they are seriously tough, i had a dual cab inter with a chev diesel v8 and a 20ft tray running on these diffs for years, even had it up the beach many times.

Wow! Sounds like a nice truck! Got any old photos? Considering what a rear 44 is worth, I don't think he's too far off. I would have got these for my comp pathfinder I'm building if i'd known about them before I bought a front 44 and rear patrol diff.

Not saying they aren't tuff, but:
You are going to have very limited choise of lockers & ratios for that rear diff.
The D70 is stupid overkill for the front and just mean more dead weight and less ground clearance.
Also if you were building a comp rig one of the ast places you'd skimp on is the diffs, so these wouldn't be high on my ideal build thoughts.
Whilst the up front might appear cheap, factor inthe rims and other small items required that will push the cost of the swap up.
Honestly I wouldn't want 'em unless we're talking 40"+ tyres and then I'd be looking for something "better" anyhow.....
Just my 2 cents......

heavy diffs will lower a vehicles center of gravity but will also increase the unsprung weight of the vehicle which makes the suspension performance decrease
