When it comes to parts and servicing I rate Mentone Jeep very high. There service has always been exceptional and nothing is too much trouble unlike some dealers where once you buy the vehicle they don't care.
Based on this alone I would buy a new car from them.

Matty FYI - don't be surprised if dealers don't respond, no one likes a Dutch auction. This approach is very common and they know that you are emailing other dealers, so dealers have an "un written" agreement to BCC each other in on replied quotes and keep them uniform or within couple of hundred dollars of themselves.
Doesn't mean your getting the best deal. Remember that customer service should be taken highly in this process, as the price is quickly forgotten, (give or take that it's a few hundred dollars here or there,,, not thousands) but if you get great service buying the car, they will also back up with the service when it comes to maintenance or warranty.
I am in the sales industry and I know that I am happy to go that extra step to help out the customer who is interested in playing fair, and not always so keen on helping the person who screwed me over, and didn't let me make at least 1 dollar.
Dealers have computer systems with databases on "type of client" , "gross profit earnt" and this determines how you are"upsold or not upsold" at a service maintenance point of view. If your tough on them there tough on you. Karma...

I respect to using a broke,pr, you are putting a 3rd party in the picture who cannot purchase the car any cheaper for you than what you could get it yourself, it's simply less hastles, but yo will pay about 300-500 spotters fee to the broker in that "best price"

We traveled from adelaide to morwell (the jeep dealership their) to pick up our wrangler. Great customer service both before and after pick up. Just on that they even picked us up from the train station. Re price, work out what you want to pay. Then if you have the $$ ready to go - ask them if they will hit your price. We did this. Every dealer said they couldn't meet our price straight away. I said no worries and let my details. All but one rang back in 15 minutes. We saved over $8k on a brand new wrangler

...and this folks is why retail is failing these days.... Sales staff who have forgotten they are there to sell their goods. To do this, they need customers. Customers are the ones with the money and are not as easily fooled and sucked in today as they might have been in years gone by. As far as I'm concerned, if you want my $60k odd, you better work for it. You don't get to set the rules, the customer does. Sure, you don't have to give your product away, but we are not stupid and we know that where retail sales are involved, huge markups are placed on top. Despite all your umming and ahhhhing and pretending to go to see a "manager" you have a figure you are allowed to go to and you have a figure that you could sell at and still make a profit. If retailers treated customers withy the respect they deserved and provided good service not just pre-sale but post-sale too and not like an inconvenience, they wouldn't keep trying to play you off against one another.
I'd have done the same thing by emailing the dealers too if my purchase had have been done that way, and if they chose to ignore it or collude on pricing, I'd go interstate with my hard earned $$$$
Now that you've read this and no doubt your blood is boiling and in true internet forum fashion, your now dying to bash out a strongly worded reply in rebuttal, just know I don't hold this view specifically on you and/or on every retailer out there - I've worked in sales too in another life but it was at a time when there was no internet and customers were treated with respect because we knew we NEEDED them to survive! My belief is that most car dealers don't give a toss about individual sales as fleet buyers and government sales are worth more....
END OF INTERNET FORUM RANT

In an ideal world you would be correct.
When you get down to the last few $$$$ it will be the sales manager or dealer principal who is making the price decision. These guys have been competitive mates for years.
At any time there maybe a dealer some where trying to lift its figures & so is cutting to the bone.
All the dealers know what each is doing. Even if its from a chat in a pub.
There will probably be a jeep in stock some where at a dealer that fits what the buyer wants, if its a demo, a better price may be possible.
