Thats how I do it anyway.
Hi Guys. It is time to do a power steering fluid change. Reading the 2.7 Everything thread I'm going from the yellow/orange fluid MS-10838 fluid over to the Penrite Pas fluid as according to Jeep the MS-10838 fluid has been discontinued.

Question is, is this process enough to do a flush given the change in fluids? I'm assuming they can't be mixed.

Approximately how many litres to do the job?

Hi Breeeen, Can you get Slick 50 PSF over there? Somebody on a UK forum has just been asking about PSF, and Slick 50 is compatible with MS-10838.

Thanks Jonny. Fluid wise I think I'm covered. We have Penrite PAS fluid available which meets the MS 10838 spec.

I'm just wondering what the best flush method is if doing a swap from one fluid to another?

Small tidbit regarding fluid part numbers, copied from wjjeeps.com

Important note:
The factory fill power steering fluid for all 1999-2004 Grand Cherokees is a unique fluid, MS5931. ATF+4 (MS9602) should not be mixed or used as a “topping off” fluid on the Grand Cherokee WJ. All WJ models should be serviced using ONLY the special MS5931 fluid. ATF+4 is NOT an approved Power Steering Fluid and should never be used under any circumstances. Note that all fluids will darken in color with usage and fluid color is no longer an indication of fluid condition.

I have used ATF in a 6 cyl WG for around 4 years and 100,000kms after a steering box change no issues. Also run a V8 WG with ATF in the power steering/fan circuit without problems for a couple of years, I’m convinced mopar wants their Fluid used to make more money.
