I have to do my ex wife’s car when I’m home. Only 6 years old and Kia dealer said it needs a new engine because she didn’t do regular oil changes.
I’m going to use Wynns oil treatment to desludge it. Then clean the CVVI solenoid and install fresh oil and filter.
I think every now and then a lot of engines could use an extra clean just before a full oil change.
Cheers,

I read heaps of stories where people run cleaners or solvents through prior to oil changes and then get oil leaks.

Interesting comments Guys I myself are a big believer of Servicing Regularly and keeping them clean so you can spot any leaks ..
I have even seen idiots on youtube spray water into the throttle body of a running engine saying the steam will de carbon the engine?

I’ve heard of people running oil for Diesel engines through as a cleaner for a few km’s as apparently they have an added detergent? Still not comfortable with that, but might be an option if you think the engine is sludgy.

thing is it does work, hence my joke about urinating
if you see inside a cylinder that has has a head gasket coolant leak, its usually very clean, and water is injected into combustion chambers in some high performance applications

I've always wondered how many cats have be ruined by crap being dislodged into them. They have super fine holes/ tunes in them.
Same with particle filters on deisels.
I would just wait till the Inlet manifold had to come off on a deisel and get it cleaned professionally. Then not have it go into your pots, turbo and particle filter etc.

Water injection was extremely common on wartime aviation gasoline piston engines and early gas turbines as the water vaporizes and lowers the combustion charge temperature dramatically which has 2 benefits it increases the charge mass and reduces the tendency of turbo-charged and supercharged engines to detonate.
Aircraft used water with some methanol, the methanol was used to stop the water freezing at altitude but it also added some more combustible fuel.
Water injection is like a liquid intercooler, and a happy side benefit that it does tend to decoke the combustion chamber.

We played around with water injection a lot in the 80’s with our hotted up Fords and Holden’s.
