I dont know where you are looking but Im seeing them for round $200, look under your year, and then select "Liberty" as the vehicle model.

That's right I meant, everywhere else I've looked their around the $750, although I actually found one for $500 yesterday.

On Rockauto, the Denso is about $260 odd, plus about $75 delivery, all up it works out to about $400 delivered or thereabouts.

Jeepboy79,
Ahh yes I see what you mean now, yeah good one, although I did make the mistake of not accounting for the aussie dollar compared to u.s now, its still pretty good though, but was sweet when on parity.

Regards
Daz

So it's now about a week since I first detected the rattling noise coming from the alternator and things have taken a sharp turn downwards. The rattling noise is now extremely apparent, sounds like the bearings are in a plastic bottle being shaken from side to side.

I found a place that will effectively recondition my alternator for $285. I thought about replacing just the pulley but I'm about to get a new battery as well so our prefer to know the alternator is working 100%. Complete refit basically and comes with a one year warranty. Will see how it goes tomorrow...
