It also uses the EGR valve to bleed off overboost in sudden throttle lift off (think of it as a popoff valve).

So if you want to compare try adding the cost for a DP Chip to your $1 shim, say $1496 for that combo, and then the GDE Tune comes out more cost effective.
I know Glen it is not apples with apples, but his original question was can you do the blocking plate. I just said he can for a very low cost or can with a lot more bells and whistles...I don't think he was asking for performance improvements.
I, for one, can strongly recommend the GDE tune and their "after purchase" support is truly amazing.

On the export models of the KJ CRD there is no CEL for EGR issues as the EOBD legislation does not require it. In the US the EPA mandates a CEL for EGR problems for emission compliance. There are other diagnostic differences between US/Export versions as well, but relatively minor. We can provide support for issues, but the GDE tuning process in Australia is handled through Stu.
Our tune modify a host of parameters to make your CRD run as efficiently as possible, improve performance, smoother drive ability and lower exhaust temps. All directional correct for improved longevity and lower soot loading of your engine oil. Good Luck!

With all the talk of tuning, is there anyone out there that has or knows about open source software for having a look at the ECU.

i have done a fair bit before with my subaru and used rom raider with the OBD2 connector. Havent had a chance to have a look yet at the Jeep but similar process yeah ??.

If so what software are people running and what program to flash with and is there anywhere to bounce ideas and mods off people.
