If it's a manual it sounds like it's the spigot bearing is it doing this all the time or does it go away when you depress the clutch.

Only occurs when foot is on the accelerator.
Clutch in is ok.
Neutral is ok.
Shifts smooth, makes no noise, only when foot is on accelerator and louder as i put the foot down more.

I have done spigot and throwout bearings before (in other vehicles) and confident it is not one of those two.
Thinking it could be the main output bearing, and I assume if it was that, there would be no noise when in 1:1 gear (which in the 6 speed, is 5th if I remember correctly).

Pretty sure it makes the noise in 5th also (I will check this when I drive it again).

OK, have worked out you have a six speed

is the whine worse in any particular gear?

change the fluid in case it is contaminated with water, but once a noise is there due to wear on a certain component, new oil aint gunna fix it.

my bet is you have a bearing on the way out, but by knowing which gear it is louder in would help determine if it is input shaft, main shaft or counter shaft bearings

Whine appears to be in all gears 2 through 6.
Also whines in 5th which is the 1:1.

If its not in first gear (or due to lower tailshaft revs its there and you cant hear it), I would then tip its a bearing on the output side, the faster the tailshaft spins, the louder it gets, esp under load.
