Thanks - I'd buy the one with the buttons. Any idea how to match them to the car, i.e. the right frequency?

I have just bought a 2002 grand cherokee laredo. Only one key.

Took off the key and tried it on the car ignition. No probs.

Looked on Ebay and bought a blank for $5.00 delivered from USA with a delivery date of 14 days.

If the keycutter charges more than $10 to cut then I'll be after his keys.

Problem is a WJ (2002) and a WH (2005 up) are different. You can program a WJ's with one key. With a WH, you need two keys to program another - or go to a dealer and have them do it.

you still need 2 keys to correctly program a 3rd or up to 8 keys in total on a wj. most locksmiths will clone the original not actually programme a new key.
jeep and very few others can do it correctly.
after much rading and head scratching i made a compromise
i decided to cheat the immobiliser system, maybe not the best way. but the cheapest and best for me. now i just got a couple of cheap hardware store blanks cut and im good.

This is getting frustrating. I've spoken with Jeep and they will program the key for $55 if I supply it myself. I went to https://www.ikeyless.com/vehicles/Je.../2006/1001460/ (thanks SeaComms) but they don't ship to Aust.

I then found this one on ebay http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2005-2007...item415f560ec0
but I try and buy and it says "Sorry, you are not allowed to purchase this item
This item is only available to buyers who have not purchased 1 or more items from this seller in the past 10 days."

But I haven't bought anything off him. Also a strange message. Oh well - will keep looking.
