I had an earlier Karcher i had repaired twice. The service centre kept telling me what a great machine they were. On the third breakdown i gave up and bought a cheapy from Super Cheap , over 2 years ago now. Value for money I would say that is hard to beat

LOL. My Karcher was a cheapy from Supercheap

Got an email from the local repair agent who seem quite happy to assist and sent me copies of the exploded diagrams to point out to the parts required and they are going to get back to me with some pricing.

I only need 3 oil seals and 2 nylon planetary gears, but the gears dont seem to be listed on any of the diagrams so will see how it goes!

If it does come good price wise, does anyone know how much oil should be in the gearbox? Mine had none left so nothing to go on there, and the exploded diagram just has a 1 litre bottle as spare parts and the gearbox wouldnt hold a litre! If I do fix it I think I might pull it apart and check the oil level (in the maintenance free gearbox...)

Looks like my old one, it went the same way but when I cracked it open oil went everywhere, when I saw the mess inside, I just went to Bunnings and bought another one. I know how much they spend at work repairing them, now they just toss em and get new ones, it's cheaper.

Final update. The local repairer replied that Karcher do not provide the gears as spare parts, hence why there is no part number for them....

In his words - this makes it not viable to repair... I have sent an email to Karcher Australia asking why spare parts are not available for a 3 year old machine, since the Trade Practices act clearly states replacement parts must be available, and also an email to Karcher international head office, and of course got no reply from either.

I solved the problem myself this morning. I bought a Gerni 1.32 from SuperCheap on special. Blows the old Karcher away on power and speed of cleaning (pardon the pun), main unit is 17 kilo as opposed to the Karcher's 6 kilo (all metal insides). Also picked up a 90° nozzle so cleaning under the guards is so much simpler.

Will still pursue Karcher though on the fact that they are in breach of the Trade Practices act for not being able to provide spare parts. If I end up getting it fixed will donate it to my one of my kids.
