Straddie for a day trip is a bit expensive though especially if you then have to buy a permit to drive on the beach as well as a barge fare ,come back via Logan Village and about 1 to 2 km before you get to Camp Cable road on the right if you are coming from Canungra you will see large power transmission lines that cross the road follow the tracks in there and explore, you can easily play there even in the wet as the ground is quite sandy .

Gonna venture out tomorrow with freshly repaired CPS and non-cutting out engine and drive up Duck Creek Rd. I see there are some other "creek roads" on the map nearby so if it's not too wet we'll explore whatever else we can find on google maps too.

Keen to checkout this powerlines trail too - will have a look if it's not pissing down!

if you havent already driven the powerlines, just be careful, if you venture off the main tracks, into unknown grass, it can be quite boggy.
there is every sort of track you could possibly want in there, from rock, to clay, to dirt, gravel etc. from easy, to quite hard bordering extreme. though the extreme tracks are pretty hard to find. along the main track, after a bit of a hike in, you will find a low level patch of grassy/swampy area, its a fair size, do not drive into it, unless you want to get bogged. many 4by has attempted it, very few get through. just follow the track to the left of this section, and it will run up along side it, you wont be able to see the swampy bit, then you will come to a T intersection, turn right, and it will bring you out the other side, when you come out of there, there is a track pretty much straight away on the left, it runs up the left side of the powerlines thats good fun, I wouldnt take a stock prado up there though, the xj will do it no worries, if you cut across to the right hand side of the powerlines, the main track continues up towards the hill, you wont be driving the hill its a main track follow it along till you come to a, + intersection, turn left and follow it and it will take you to the top of the powerline hill. if you go in on a weekend there will be many people in there, so if you get lost just hit someone up for directions. (if driving over virgin soil in there and you break the surface if its pretty wet, there is a good chance you will just sink, espeicially in the sandy soil bits, I got bogged in there many many times, in my old TJ)
I think I may spend too much time in there.

Have fun mate.
