I've only used mine to assist when changing the rear bushings..I have a three stage [3T] bottle jack and the folding wheel spanner wrapped up and sitting under the rear seat on the other side. With my luck, if I took them out an left them home, I'd have a flat tyre within minutes!! I also carry my twin cylinder compressor and puncture repair kit [ARB] in the back for long trips.

Dunno about your spare wheel nut set up tho'...my number plate folds upwards and there are two nuts to undo so the hinged cover swings away exposing three wheel nuts [same size as the main ones] are you sure it's not a locking nut you're looking at ? My four road wheels have the same pattern locking nut, but the spare has it's own one [courtesy of the previous owner] and the plastic envelope containing the adapters are kept under the seat with the jack. It makes removing a wheel a fairly slow process, but is quite secure.

Hope this helps.

Check the glovebox for the lock nut tool or else I'd ask the previous owner

You might even get lucky with the jack and wheel brace business too.

Default Lock nut tool

When i got my 05, i too found out too late that there was a lock nut on the spare and no lock nut key....I went to a tyre place, took the guy 25mins of sweat and swearing to get it off, using every tool they had. Of course I only found out when i went to rotate the tyres and the spare turned out to the the origional wrangler tyre....only problem the other 4 are Nexus road tyres!!!!!
Learnt my lesson to always double check a car yard.

Can you put up a photo so we can tell you if its standard; hard to tell what previous owners have done.

Mate I just got rid of my jeep and I got a spare jack kit and a spare lock nut tool. If you are lucky it might just be the one you need.

Pm me as I'm on holidays and won't be checking this site much now. I will add a few of the bits and pieces that I didn't throw into the car when I traded it..
