Sure. Well, I know someone who went into outback 2 months ago with a fairly new diesel Prado and broke down in the middle of nowhere on the way to, what was supposed to be, a dream holiday. The nearest "town" was 300 km away. Had to wait for a tow truck 1 day. Then when it went into the dealers, it turned out to be a fried engine and what's worse, just ran out of warranty. Had to wait a week to get the engine replaced in QLD plus $7K out of pocket. Stayed at the caravan park, then picked up the car when it was ready and came back home to Sydney and no holiday.
I did a month trip in the deserts ALONE (with family), fully loaded and didn't have an issue. Now someone please tell me Jeep is unreliable and Toyota is durable and reliable. I wouldn't have went alone if I wasn't confident in the vehicle.
Not to mention a guy rocking up at the trails with a brand new Cruiser, fully equipped (lift, bar, winch, rock rails, snorkel, lockers front and rear and what not), attempting a very steep hill climb and BANG! Front diff gave up the ghost. Durable? Sure!
So far I'm on my second Jeep and both of them were reliable. Anyway, gotta go sleep, 4WD-ing tomorrow
