Heya,

I've got a similar thread but for 285/65/17 for the stock rims on my jk 2010 sports... so I know ur pain in searching.

265/70/17 will fit your rims with no lift and no issues at all.

That's the size I will go if I can't pull off the 285/65/17 with no lift, but I'll probably do it and see if she rubs and do the bumpstops or spacers if needed.

Maxxis AT-700 at my local tyre power $265ea fitted and balanced is a great gig!

I have the same size in Federal Couragia A/T, not by my choice! I must say though I am very impressed with the ride, wear and traction. I'd love to do a side by side comparison with yours...

I have just fitted -about 5000k ago - a set of BFG mud terrain 255/75r17 tires imported from the US. They were cheaper even when freight and fitting is included, than the locally available BFG all terrain KO which come with either a little smaller (265/70) or a little larger (285/70) rolling radius than the 255/75 Goodyear Wrangler which is the only brand available ex stock in Oz the last time I checked. I am very pleased the way the BFG mud terrains go, and they are a lot tougher than the Goodyear Wranglers. I do a lot of long distance touring on poor quality tracks where sidewall damage from stakes is an issue. The wranglers suffered much more seriously from this than BFGs - and this experience comes from an XJ, a ZG and now the JK. The tires came from a company called Tire Rack - and when I bought them I had to contact them direct by email - their website won't accept out of state addresses.

Hi from Sweden

I went with Cooper st Maxx 265/70/17 on Black Rock 908B rims.

I would like to have 285/70/17 but was afraid that I needed a lift and it is not allowed that they go past the fenders. Maxx is rather big for the size, I have not tried but doubt a 285/70/17 would fit when flexing and turning.

My 265/70/17 with 4.5 backspacing rims go past the fenders about some mm, I hope that is OK.

Some say that Maxx is the best AT tire on the market today and they are very tough.

I bought mine for the winter time, and they are studded. It is a E-tire, no harsh ride, some small hum, dont care. I like the look, very happy with them.

Some pic
