Well it's been a tough week, we spent a night on Mt Buffalo, worked our way down the great ocean road and have found ourselves a beaut little spot in Southend near beach port SA. A great little spot is blanket bay camp ground in the great Otway national park, it is only small and is definitely busy in peak season but that still couldn't dampen the ocean views from our camp site and the protected bay to have a snorkel in. Well worth a visit if your looking for a place to set up camp just out of Apollo bay.

On the recommendation of a review found on explore Australia forum we checked out the bush camping offered by the south end caravan park. It's a separate gated acreage on the beachfront that requires keyed access and has large fairly secluded campsites. We are loving it so far and have booked three nights. And to top off the day we are fishing on the beech and about 10 jeeps just dove past, I checked the forum trips but there doesn't seem to be anything listed so I'm guessing MJOC or similar. Might have to find them tomorrow to tag along...

So far no fish, but its still fun drinking I mean fishing...

Cheers

Andrew

I'm currently doing the same sort of trip 95XJ, currently in North East Tassie. I will keep an eye on your adventures and take notes on places I should check out.

Regards A

Will do Anthony. We just finished a run through little desert, big desert, Wyperfeld and Murray sunset national parks, it's been a busy week! Had some awesome fun on border track below red bluff rd with the massive dune there and some great fun in the soft sand through the remote western part of Wyperfld on China man well and Milmed rock tracks. These are seriously re,toe tracks and we didn't pass a soul for days. Currently enjoying a few luxury night in a best caravan park in mildura right on the Murray to recoup from the las three weeks of beaches, deserts and corrugations....

A few photos... For those that know this dune after about 4 goes at the hardest line heading north I got to the top with the front wheels over but ran out of power. Chunked it into second low with both diff locks in and successfully clawed my way over. On the way back I tried to pick an easier line however the top of the dune had formed a sand blow with all the wind and what should have been a straight forward track was capped with a 2 metre high sand blow at around a 45 degree angle. Already committed I gave it everything I could in first high and she climbed it valiantly until she bellied out badly... The second tree I tried did the job, the first didn't do so well...
