Mine is on the spare carrier on the back. I bought a mount from Blackjack welding for it.

I'd upload a pic of it, (I have a ground independent mount with a 1dB antenna), but I just get a message that I have already uploaded that pic in the 'What have you done', thread and I can't be bothered looking through 147 pages to find where I posted it...

Really think some sort of bracketry is in order. The other problem is the fact m rear bar is a stubby bar. So with this in mind I cannot have it on the off side as the tailgate opens further past the rear bar, so it has to go on the new side. Now this only gives me a real small channel as to where I can place it, to far to the right and the tailgate or window will not open and too fa to the right and it will impede on the rear number plate! Hmmmm decisions. I think I will get the boily in work to weld me a bracket on the rear bar between the door and the number plate.
What I'm trying for is to pretty much hide it from the drivers view completely and not have it above roof height, so ideally rear corner was the only choice for me and on the rear bar. Ill put up a few pics once done

why not on the spare wheel carrier and get a stubby 3dB antenna ??

Mine too on the rear tyre carrier. Out of the way, up high. Bangs on the rolladoor when I park it up though. Lucky its Heavy duty.

Because I have already bought an antenna, 7.5db approx 3ft in length.
