Stange how when the camp sites on Bribie is totally booked out you will find almost no campers in the sites .........

Rainbow is great, you can beach camp or camp on campsites, we head up there every couple of weeks for either a day trip or a couple of nights. However I wouldn't waste your money going to Fraser for just one day. Its a long way to go for just a drive on the beach for the day. Way to much to see and do! I have been several times, usually about 5 days each time, and its never long enough. Going back again as soon as I can arrange it as still plenty I have not seen yet.

Though if you want to camp on the beach you must take your own portaloo - you will be fined if you dont have one and the rangers catch you.

Where do I look to find stuff out about camping permits etc, and can I camp anywhere?

Google cooloola recreation area and it will take you to the qld gov site. All the info on camping, permits, tracks, tides etc are all on there. Also once you jave the basic info I can give you the low down on tje good spots to visit etc. Will write up some more info for you latwr when I have the computer on.

Have a look in competitions and events, best places to drive. I was up there a few weeks ago. Rainbow beach/ double island point thread by me. All the info is in there mate.
