The trick with QT2 is that it uses wheel braking to stop a spinning wheel and send torque to the other wheels with more traction. This can hurt momentum in some cases, so the rear locking diff in QD2 helps a little here. But with the right driving style (keeping the foot down when the wheel braking occurs) you can overcome this a bit. Having the 18s and dropping your tyre pressure is probably also going to help you get around any limitations of QT2.
I have read that some GC owners have more luck in low range, because it keeps the torque locked 50/50 to front and rear diffs. I haven't checked yet, I'm still waiting for mine.
