If your going to do it yourself and your 3lt has the same bolts as the 2.7lt (both MB engines) then make sure your have the correct bit to fit the bolt head as they can be a bastard to remove, they are a torx head I think .
Plastic pulleys just dont last. not only do they melt, they also crack. Replaced both idler pulleys on my XJ with metal ones that have bearings (Timkin) that can be replaced. IIRC they were for a ford Mondeo. I just took the old ones into my favorite bearing shop & they found ones that were suitable. ~ $ 25 each.

If they're advertised as Nuline and Nuline claim to be all metal, then surely they won't be plastic?

Question How did you go

How did you go with the pulleys? You have had them for a year now, any problems

I'm about to replace my water pump (at 198,000km mind you) & I figure I will do the pulleys while I'm at it.

Pulley part numbers would be a big help

I found this PDF online, may help others in the future.

My WH has a rattling scraping sound coming from the front serpentine belt area I think when it first starts.
After a couple minutes it goes away.

At what mileage do these idlers and tensioners normally require replacing? and a good place to start looking....suppose have to take the belt off and feel for play or rough turning.

Mine is at 198,000km but I have only owned it for the last 70,000km. I figure that if I have to do the water pump then I will do the idlers & alternator overrun pulley as well. Just waiting on the alternator overrun pulley & fitting tool & I'm ready to go.

Just a quick heads up. When I picked up the Nuline pulleys one of the bearings had a slight catch as I rotated it so I got then to order another. A bearing is either good or bad, no in-between.

Exclamation Dayco listing not right

A quick update
OAP007 is NOT the correct one for WH & XH. It only fits WJ 2.7 CRD's (6 Rib Belt)

OAP168 is the correct Alternator Overrun Pulley, it has 7 ribs.

p/s
I have an alternator overrun pulley for a WJ 2.7 CRD if anyone needs it
