Welcome to AUS , USA. You'll have to get used to the prices here and will miss the freedom of wheelin there. It's still pretty good though. Lots of information regarding allowable mods, wheel size, lift, etc. on this forum. Do a search or ask away, there are heaps of knowledgable jeepers here to lend a hand. Talk to Yankee Dave, he'll help you out for sure. Consider joining MJOC.

U Navy?

Thanks All,

One thing I've noticed is that Jeeps don't seem to be so popular there, that's a good thing. They are in strong demand here, prices are steep. I may bring some tires and rims with me if I make a house hold shipment..

The reason not as popular is the price. We pay a huge premium making them rather expensive in comparison to over there. Then once you need to buy replacement parts be prepared tonpay 3 to 4 times the retail US prices! For example I just bought a new clock spring from the US retail including shipping to my door for $236 Australian. Over the counter price here was quoted between $900 - $1100...

Base model JK here starts at around $35k for a really good deal...

If you are shipping stuff over when you make the move, buy plenty of spare parts/ mods and ship them.
It will save a fortune.
Officially you have to declare anything less than 12 months old, but if it's not in new packaging and you don't have 20 of each item they don't make a big problem of it.

Welcome to Oz Dryseals, you'll really love living in Victoria.

We have pretty much anytype of terrain you want to drive in, from snow to mud, the high country, to the rain forests of the otway ranges. It's all on your doorstep.

Prices on a lot of aftermarket Jeep stuf here can be a bit expensive, so if you know what vehicle you're after, (Grand Cherokee, Cherokee, Wrangler etc), it might pay to purchase the large heavy stuff over there and throw it in your container to be shipped over, you will save a heap in doing that.
Then all you have to do is find the Jeep you're after and that won't be too difficult.

Also have a look at www.mjoc.org.au that's the Melbourne Jeep Owners Club with around 300 members running around 110-120 trips each year. Everything from winery tours to extreme off roading and everything in between.

Cheers and welcome aboard.
