Several of mine failed recently. After having a balance done. I suspect they were put on way too tight as I used my breaker bar to loosen them, then retorqued correctly. (~95ft-lb from memory. Edit: just checked, yep, 95 is correct.)

I got a set of 23 nuts from ebay, cost ~$65 for the solid splined ones in black from the US. 1/2X20 is the thread you need. I think these are the ones I got: 23 Jeep Black 6 Spline Lug Nuts 23 PCS Spare Tire 1/2" Fits All Jeep Vehicles

My local Bob Jane's always uses a torque wrench for wheel nuts.

If you want to replace the set, I can recommend American Gorilla Lug Nuts. I've used their "lifetime Lug Nuts" and they are a very nicely made piece of gear, the chrome does not crack or peel. They are also one piece nuts, unlike the factory style nuts.

Choose the 1/2" thread Acorn style....either long or short length to suit.

Nope, he is talking about an aluminium cover to make the nut look pretty and they do not come off until you need to remove them after they have failed, I had one spin on me as well, luckily I was at home and could sort it but it could have been a pita on the trail.

Default Wheel nuts and now TPMS

OK thanks for the feed back guys I ended up ordering that set of lug nuts of ebay hope they will be here next week.
The jeep has had a break for almost the last week. When I jumped it today to move it in the driveway to wash it I got a CHECK TPMS alarm when I go the the pressure screen they are all solid not flashing but the icon on the other side of the dash from the TPMS is flashing.
I am going to check the tire pressures at the servo today just to make sure. Could this problem be caused by the fact I still have me spare on my front left and the tire that was on my front left on the rear door?
