Your vehicle is in good hands at Bellbowrie Mtrs as Ozjeepster is the head Jeep guy there. These vehicles are rated to tow three ton vans ,is yours 2.8 ton unloaded or loaded !! I have just been away for a couple of weeks on the road round Mudgee to Cowra and talked to a number of WH and WK owners towing large vans, none were aware that engine oils ,ATF fluids ,diff oils should be changed more often when towing, especially in extremely hot conditions.(It was 39c out of Mudgee on a couple of days.) I also think many owners do not know what the fully laden weight of their van is.!!
Hi bjm
Yeah we see a lot of vans that need to be towed by a jeep or cruiser etc as they are way to big for the tow vehicle.
The GC is a diesel and they are rated to tow 3.5t.
We had been down to Canberra and had our van and Jeep weighed whilst we were there in prep for our life on the road in a couple of months.
The van weighed 2790kg with full gas bottles and water tanks (190L).
Being able to monitor the coolant and trans temp on the road is great too.
cheers
Gary

Gary, we have just completed the big lap around the block. 30,000kms approx and towing our 3.5T van for at least 75% of that time. 7 months on the road.

The car handled it beautifully. Only issue was a clogged DPF warning at the end of a leg of 65kms at 20km/h on corrugations. Let car rest overnight (had planned to stop anyway just as light came on, appeared as were parking van). Code cleared itself next day after 2-3kms of normal driving (drove, stopped, engine off, engine on, car fine). Yes, it's shattering when something goes wrong but in my experience the car is reliable and will handle your trips with ease.
