Unlikely anything would have got past the injectors.

Both codes are to do with fuel rail pressure so the diagnosis sounds right.

For piece of mind ask for a compression test to be done once repaired (you want a copy of the results) & push to get the engine covered by warranty for another 12 months on top of what's remaining.

I'm assuming it's still covered by warranty?

He has put in a warranty claim as the day he took it in was 1 day before end of warranty. This has been a ongoing problem for 18mths so should have been fixed way before.
Thanks

Ok just an update,

Spoke with the inlaw today he has been told that the claim may not go through as they beleive the pump has failed due to bad fuel.

Now this has been a problem since 20,000kms now almost 90,000km could dodgy fuel cause the pump to totally shit itself? And let metal go through to the injectors also?
Thanks
Dave

Don't let them get away with it. Keep pushing them for a warranty repair.

Wouldn't the crap be in the fuel filter?
I don't know where it is on a Grand, but on my jk diesel the fuel pump is in the tank and the filter is near the engine.
So if it was like my set up wouldn't most of the metal be in the filter.

When you reset the computer how long does it drive ok for?

Ask them for the proof it was dodgy fuel! Was there water in the fuel filter, did the water in fuel alarm/light come on.

Never any water in fuel alarm/light and never any evidence of it in filters that he was told. Has always been serviced with the same dealer first time it happened was when it was due for the 20000km service, so surely it would have been noticed if fuel was contaminated as they change the fuel filter.

Will see how he goes they sure like to prolong your pain.
