Default Fuel consumption....

thanks Rob..... we don t intend to tow a van at all.....once you have had a V8 WJ and before that a 360 Grand Wagoneer you are a little gun shy about running cost..... if i get 11s i will be happy. Doesnt seem to be a theme on the WK pages relating to horror fuel consumption... so i will assume that its not really a problem...

again thx for your feed back

That second one you listed is confusing. All the specs listed on the carsales add says it's a 3.0 diesel but in the sellers comments he says it has 210kw of power from the 3.6lt engine.

Which one is it?

My 2c, I test drove a 3.6 before I bought my diesel and IMHO the petrol lacked the power I was after (I was coming from a tuned Ford Territory turbo with over 600nm of torque mind you).
My tuned diesel now has around 640nm of torque and tows rather well, for me.

At the end of the day, I would strongly suggest driving both and then worry about the fuel costs, that is such an insignificant part of the overall ownership of the car to not warrant really compromising on.

Just returned from a 2300km trip, towing 3.5T boat. Average consumption per fill was 15.1 - 15.2 litres per hundred with the last leg of 440km exceptional, returning 14.1 litres per 100 - tow speed 95 - 105 kph and it did this easily. Stock standard diesel Overland.

Normal in town 8.5/100 freeway 7.5/100
