Agreed RE: XJ market in AU/US/UK but there are smaller markets where they are still popular, although I suspect that the WJ will replace them even in those markets fairly quickly as available spares run out.
You bring up a good point about steel quality, we had new pontoons built a few years ago, they are a hollow steel construction with a thick ceramic paint coating for protection. The steel quality is woeful, any where there are any imperfections in the coating corrosion starts up very quickly.
If local businesses don’t or won’t do the product you want (yes, I’ve been asking around) they have no right to moan when we have to go o/s for gear.
