metal on metal noise from wheel

I had a similar symptom in my KL that took a while to pinpoint - where the axle connected to the rear diff there’s a metal cap and rubber seal that rotates with the axle. The cap and seal weren’t seated properly - with the car on a hoist and wheels turning slowly, you could see the cap and seal ‘wobble’ as the axle rotated - and with each rotation there was a metal on metal squeak - sounded just like a brake noise.

i had a similar noise with mine to it turned out to be the park break shoes had de laminated themselves. ie the the pad had come away from the shoe itself. new park break shoes and shes all good. its a common with the Wh's
