Sounds like they have NFI about doing this job. I'd be finding a switched on independent mechanic to do the job & ask them to use this gasket maker material

Cheers

When I dropped my bash plates to do the diff oil I had a look to see where this sump seal is and hope I never have the problem as it looks a right pain in the bum, certainly want the vehicle as high up as you can .

Stop Leak works by swelling a worn or perished gasket/seal or filling pin hole gaps, I doubt it will 'recondition' an old sealant so you might not get any benefit anyway. I hate adding that crud into an engine, tranny, PS system or any other finely engineered system. At best, the stuff is only a temporary measure a bit like foam puncture repairs, I suggest just concentrate on getting the real fix done.

TR Laredo is right, get to a good mechanic and steer well clear of dealers.

My 2014 Limited was leaking from Day1 ( Lower Sump) on 2nd service they fixed it, didn't take to long 4hrs total. So it appears it's a pretty easy fix.

*Update*
Stop leak hasn't worked. Will look at getting the job done at a indi work shop or have a go at dropping the front end myself and doing it lol.

I think some here are confusing the lower sump with the upper sump gasket. The latter does indeed require most of the front end to be dismantled which is a labour intensive job.

My upper sump gasket is leaking, well weeping at this stage and will require a replacement at some point.

Fortunately I have now found an independent (German AutoMeister in East Perth) that is far better than the dealer. Had my Jeep serviced there recently and they found most of the issues identified by the dealer at the previous service to be absolute bollocks, eg need a new inlet manifold (nothing wrong with it) fuel injectors need servicing (they didn't).
